The Justice for Andy Martin Homepage

Andy Martin was wrongly convicted in 2007 for various charges, and this site is here to promote his case and publicise his plight.

On the 3rd of September 2007, following a two-month trial at Reading Crown Court, Andrew John Martin was convicted, with others, of conspiracy to supply cocaine and, further convicted of possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 5(1)(aba) of the Firearms Act 1968. He was sentenced to 5 years for each charge, to be run consecutively and he has now served a little over 2 years of a 10-year prison sentence.

We, his supporters, are outraged at Andy’s conviction and imprisonment purely on circumstantial evidence and the unjustified nature of his conviction case is now supported by the MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE ORGANISATION. Read more about the case here.

It is with great and profound sadness that I must report that Andy's lovely Mother Peg Martin has died yesterday morning after suffering a stroke on the 19th April. Andy is obviously devestated but he asked me to let people know.

He really needs our support right now. If you want to contact him, please get in touch with me via the usual email address info@justiceforandymartin.org.uk.

You can also use the Email-a-prisoner website to contact him using the details on this page.

The observant among you will also know that Andy has been moved again to Springhill Prison near Aylesbury so he can begin his move to being released at the end of his sentence.

It's been a year since our last update... sorry. Andy has had a very quiet year and has been quietly getting on with his sentence. He doesn't complain and he continues to bear up well under great pressure. Thankfully, at the end of 2010 he was moved (finally) to a Cat D prison on the Isle of Sheppey. He is in far better circumstances and he also made his first visit home during last week. He now gets to make home visits every 28 days or so and although he has restrictions on what he can and cannot do, he will be trying to get to see all his old friends and try to restablish the contact that he lost thanks to this shocking ordeal he is going through.

Especially good news was that he saw his his mum Peg who had a stroke last year but is currently in fine health.

The legal case has gone cold recently so now Andy is trying to look at new ways to challenge the conviction and we will see how he gets on and offer our support.

If you want to visit or contact Andy you can click here. Finally if you want to meet up with Andy, get in touch with us here and we can help coordinate things and let you know when he will be making home visits.

Andy will likely have to serve 20 more months before being eligible for parole at which point he will be already in a full-time job having been offered that by one of his friends.

More updates will follow as I get back in the swing of things and get this site up to date!

The Guardian have now put an article on their site telling more the story about Andy. It is extremely helpful and gives further insight into the history of the events around the case.

Andy is fully updated on the whole thing and we are looking forward to more news on the firearm conviction and how we hope to get a reversal on that charge.

The Guardian article is fantastic news and helps point the way forward to fully showing the injustice and obtaining the release of our friend.

Happy New Year to you all.

I just wanted to let you know there's now an easy way to write to Andy, via email!

It's a new service available at his prison and it's really easy to use. All you have to do is register with www.emailaprisoner.com, set up an account and then email away. It'll cost you 25p per email (less than a 2nd class stamp). You do have to put on at least £5 when setting up the account via paypal but it does mean Andy's guaranteed alot of emails!

Once you've hit the send button, Andy should receive a printed copy the following day... much easier than using snail mail, I'm sure you'll agree! Unfortunately the Prison Service haven't issued all it's inmates with a laptop, so he can't respond but at least he'll know that we all still care about him.

The only information you need when setting up your account is that Andy's at Rye Hill Prison and his number is XE5738.

So, please if you can, get yourself set up with an account and start emailing. Let him know you're thinking about him and keep him up to date with all your news. It'll hopefully keep his spirits up during this difficult time, especially as he doesn't get many visits at the moment.

Thanks

Kimi Vincent

Rob here as well... just so you know, Andy typically gets the message 2 days after you send it, you have 2,000 characters to write and you can't send pictures.

If you need help with this, drop me a line.

Well due to me being a bit rubbish recently I never updated the site with the good news that the show in November was a great success.

Enormous thanks to all the acts who made the show one to remember.

Lots of great people were there and more work was done in trying to establish evidence that shows Andy is not guilty.

There will be more news in the New Year and if you are interested in other cases where the law on firearms has been inconsistently applied then there is a case where a chap who handed a shotgun in at a police station has been charged and convicted of posession of a firearm and is likely to get a 5-year term.
